Server Guide
Everything you need to know about how Mostly Jovial Crafters works in-game.
Everyone starts with β¬0. Money is earned by:
- Selling items to other players via QuickShop
- Selling diamonds to the bank β each diamond is worth β¬1,000
- Selling a diamond block (9 diamonds) earns β¬10,000
You can buy diamonds back from the bank at a 20% premium: β¬1,200 each. The entire economy is diamond-based.
TVA (Tax)
A progressive tax applies to all shop purchases (except the bank), based on your current balance:
| Balance | Tax Rate |
|---|---|
| Up to β¬5,000 | 0% |
| β¬5,000 β β¬10,000 | 1% |
| β¬10k β β¬50k | 2% |
| β¬50k β β¬250k | 3% |
| β¬250k β β¬1M | 5% |
| β¬1M β β¬5M | 8% |
| β¬5M+ | 12% |
World Border
The overworld border is a circle centred at (0,0) starting at radius 2,000 blocks. It expands with distance travelled by all players up to a maximum radius of 6,000 blocks (all chunks have been pre-generated).
- Nether: chunks generated up to 1,000 block radius
- End: chunks generated up to 6,000 block radius
π‘ Tip: In the nether, use MiniHUD to draw a cylinder at (0,0) with radius = overworld border Γ· 8. This ensures portals back to the overworld land within bounds. Portals created beyond the world border will snap to the edge.
BlueMap
A live 3D map of the server is available at map.mjcrafts.pt.
Use the EasyBMSignMarkers plugin to add markers on the map with in-game signs:
- Line 1:
[marker_icon_name] - Lines 2β4: custom text
See the official wiki for icon names.
PvP is opt-in and off by default. Use /pvp toggle (or /pvp t)
to switch.
All new players start with a 15-minute PvP protection timer.
Rules while in combat:
- You cannot toggle PvP off
- You cannot enter claimed land or spawn
- You cannot teleport (
/spawn,/home) - Logging out drops all items and XP (vanilla death rules)
Weekly Events
Twice a week, a server-wide PvP event is held where PvP is enabled for all players. You are only safe inside spawn or on claimed land. An arena for consensual fights is also planned.
Land is claimed using a golden shovel. Use /kit tool every 15 minutes to
receive one (with 0 durability β it's just for claiming).
- Placing your first chest creates an automatic 5Γ5 claim
- This auto-claim expires after 7 days unless expanded to at least 10Γ10
- Left-click two opposite corners with the shovel to define or resize a claim
- Claims extend from the top of the world down 5 blocks (never below Y=-51)
- Below Y=-52 (diamond level) is unclaimed territory β fair game for tunnels
- Claims are forfeited after 60 days of inactivity
- You can claim in your villager trade center but you cannot claim inside villages.
Nether Claims
Claim land in the nether only above the roof (Y > 130). For blaze farms below the roof, request a claim in Discord β no questions asked. You are required to either sell blaze rods for profit or make the farm public.
Claim Blocks
You start with 100 claim blocks. Earn more by playing β see the Ranks page for multipliers.

In addition to building shops in the world, you can use the free player shops or get a plot on the Spawn Peninsula (see the Spawn Area page for details).
For shop owners:
- Place a chest in your shop area
- Hold the item you want to sell. Type
/qs create [price] - The quantity sold matches what you're holding (64 dirt = sell a stack, 1 dirt = sell one)
- Switch between buy/sell mode:
/qs buyor/qs sell - Change the item:
/qs item - Change the price:
/qs price <amount>β costs a β¬20 fee (except the first at the supermarket) - Creating a shop costs β¬10
- Stock items directly in the chest β customers pay immediately when buying
- Shops are purged if inactive for 60 days
For customers:
- Walk up to a shop chest and click it
- The chat will show item info and price
- Type how many you want to buy or sell in chat. If the shop shows "64x", you're paying for a full stack
- Find nearby shops:
/qs find <item_name>(within 100 blocks) - Item names use Minecraft IDs, e.g.
oak_hanging_sign. See minecraft.wiki
